Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello, I am Anna Gray. I live in New York City and I am a writer and model mostly and I have a newsletter called Things I would buy if I didn’t have to pay rent.

How did you find your way to NYC?

I enrolled in The New School at 18.

How does creation play a part in your life?

Anything worth the work requires a little imagination. I created my newsletter as way to turn procrastination into productivity. I bring creation to set so I feel like I am participating with my brain as well as my face/body. Creating sentences is writing.

Can you tell us a bit about your relationship with design?

I come from a family of architects and aesthetes so design was the space I grew up in. I try to make sure everything I own is of considered design (household appliances are the toughest!).

What are three things you could not live with out every day?

A walk, water and human interaction.

What is most inspiring to you about New York?

Feeling like I live in a bubble of like-minded people. Never being bored. Having nearly endless options for food, work, play and cultural cultivation.

Can you give up your 3 favorite spots in your neighborhood?

Mogador, The Still House, Thompkins Square Park.

How do you relax + recharge in this busy city?

I try to leave every few months but if I can’t get out of the city I travel to a seldom explored part. The Upper West Side is pretty calming.

Any exciting projects you’d like to share with us?

There are some things in the works but its too soon to share!

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Choose your battles.
Best gift received?
Travel.
Best gift given?
Honestly, I’m terrible at buying presents but I think gifting experiences is a great one. Especially when our apartments in NYC are too small for more stuff! Concerts, plays, short trips to somewhere close by…
